Why EVERY Athlete Needs a Coach

    WHO Needs a Coach?
Everyone Needs a Coach. If you follow sports you will notice that most athletes have personal coaches. Tiger Woods, possibly the worlds greatest golfer, has a personal coach. Olympic athletes, including multi-gold winners have personal coaches. Of course all professional athletes have coaches. Why?? Because they have greater progress in a shorter period of time with less chance of injury, and it increases their chance of winning.

If your competition does have a coach then you are at a disadvantage to them. At the very least you certainly are not making the gains and progress that you could be and in a safe manner.

    Do it Yourself?
These days the television is full of "DIY" or Do It Yourself shows. But have you noticed how they always have a professional showing you how to "Do It Yourself"? You discover it is a lot different when you really try to do redo that kitchen on your own. It's the same in sports. Maybe you don't have a personal coach and you are relying upon your experience and knowledge. Perhaps you are "shopping" through the internet, which takes time, sifting through all that information, finding out which program or ideas may best work for you - how do you know - maybe none of them do! Then modify, experiment, and re-modify, it all takes time - a very valuable commodity. Do you ever find exactly what is right for you because you are relying upon your "experience" or somebody else to tell you but again what has been their "experience"?

"But I Already Have a Coach..."
That's great! But what is their experience and are you progresssing like you should or do you even enjoy working with them? An age old argument is you need to determine what is right for you. That is a weak argument. You do certainly need to be acquainted with what works for you... but you shouldn't determine that on your own because that takes valuable time... too much time. Why would you take 3 years to lift what could be done in 1- 2 years or even less? I can help you find what works for you faster... much faster ... than you can on your own because that is the benefit of experience and knowledge.

    The Only Constant is Change
If you do endeavor to find out what is right for you on your own and you are successfull then you also will be happy to learn something else quite interesting in a short period of time; you will learn that what is right for you is a "moving target" - it changes. There is a very important training principle here. You will find out that what once worked changes or needs to be changed because you have changed. As one gets older, stronger, bigger, the training program must change, that is unavoidable. Even disregarding your changing age, the very success that you sought can become your stumbling block. As time elapses and an athlete gets stronger and/or bigger their ability to deplete the body's resources out paces it's own ability to replace those resources and recover and adapt. Therefore what an athlete will exactly need is under constant flux. You have two choices... either be prepared to educate yourself and invest the large time investment with no guaranteed success... or... have a coach prepared to take the time to do it for you who has a proven track record.

What does it Cost to Succeed?
If you want to make maximum progress or if your competition has a good coach then you need to invest wisely. Is there a cost?? There is aways a cost... a high cost in spending too much valuable time to find success on your own, even if you can, ... or choose the less expensive one and at the same time the more profitable one... have me as your coach.

    Technique
What about technique?? What about it?? If you don't have a personal coach then you are no worse off are you? But let's improve your technique. Firstly we aren't teaching or learning complicated sumersaults. Technique more often than not can be mastered in time. I can tell by the training numbers coming back to me whether technique is holding you back. I can create the visual picture in your mind of what it needs to be and your training partners if you have any can tell you what you are doing wrong if you have instructed them on what you want to do. You could video your lifts and send them to me. Lastly I could develop a training video to show how to perform lifts properly and send it to you. In learning anything you must create the picture in your mind and then you will start moving towards it through practice. I am well aware of the best intensities to have on the lifitng bar to optimize technique and growing strength.

    The Bottom Line...
In the final analysis the reason why an athlete would have me as a personal coach is because they can progress faster and ultimatley it "costs" them less and I make it worthwhile for them. I can help you accomplish in 2-3 years what might take 10 years time on your own. I can take stalled or backsliden careers and get them improving again. I can have an athlete lift more when coached by me than they ever could on their own or from borrowed routines. And THAT has real value.
